my wife has had a relpase and underwent chemo for a second time then BEAM chemo and stem cell transplant, which seemed to be working initially but now stalled and lack of neutrophils is causing concern. doctors seem baffled at this result and thrashing about in the darl now suggesting an unlicenced as yet treatment 'el tromblo' or something like that anyone have advice or experience ?

  • Hi  and welcome to our little corner of the Community but sorry to see the reason you are finding us.

I see you have posted your question to Jane our SCT ‘Ask an expert’ so it will be interesting to see what she has to say.

I have been on my double Allo SCT journey for over 5 years now and have not came across this term but Jane may have.

Both my SCTs (with cells from my brother) were not doing well, the first failed within 6 months and the second was on the edge of doing the same.

I was given a few DLIs (Donor lymphocyte infusion) specifically T-cells, from my brother. T-cells are a type of lymphocyte that can cause an immune response. That was used to ‘wake’ up my new immune system and fight for survival........ it took some time but it worked.

What type of blood cancer is your wife being treated for.

    Are you in the UK?

Keep posting as we will help as best as we can
