I’m on w and w and have been for six months. Some days I cannot bear to have any clothes touch the enlarged lymph nodes in the neck. The largest is about 2cm. They also make my neck feel tight where the nodes are stretched over muscles and tendons. They do wax and wane but very slightly. Has anyone tried ice or anything else that might help? Other than this I feel really well so want to stay on w and w for as long as possible.
Oh Jane I don’t know? My W & W was rather different as I had no swollen lymph nodes.
I am left with muscle and nerve damage where my brick sized growth trapped muscles and nerves in my neck. Now 5 years on when I have pain in that area I use a heat pad but let’s see if some of the others can help,
You could phone your contact nurse and ask some advice or even post a question to our nurse team in the ‘Ask an Expert’section but please allow a few days to get an reply.
Thanks Mike as always for your sensible and reassuring answer. I’m reluctant to call the my contact nurse. I have only spoken to her once and didn’t find her very helpful. There’s a frightened part of me that thinks if I get in touch they will want to see me and bring on treatment. I know it will happen sometime day fairly soon but I want to delay as long as possible as it’s only been four months since I had my kidney removed. An incidental finding of the lymphoma diagnosis was a renal cancer! I would like to give my remaining kidney a time to get over the shock of being on it’s own before subjecting it to deal with chemo!
Oh...... I totally get that dread of hospitals
I did see that you had kidney issues - pants to that.
But put a post to our nurse team and you should get an answer Monday or Tuesday.
But you could call our nurse team on the Macmillan Support Line Services on 0808 808 00 00.
((hugs))
Don't know if this will be helpful but I had my kidney and spleen removed open surgery. scar from chest to below navel (wrong diagnoses at first) then once they discovered it was DLBC I had some tests but started R-CHOP about two months after surgery. I think I was quite poorly at the time so I don't think they would have delayed the chemo. The chemo was very doable. DLBC is hopefully gone but I still have the Follicular. I do have some residual issues post chemo but nothing kidney related.(waiting MRI results) I do get addition blood tests to monitor my kidney function. I am very very fortunate my specialist nurse is brilliant and I have emailed her when needed, My experience with haematology is much better than urology. I was back at work about 4 week after R-CHOP but with hindsight this may have been a little early.
Best wishes for the rest of he journeyxx
