Hi,
I was just recently diagnosed with Primary Thyroid Lymphoma (large B cell) after experiencing a very rapidly growing tumor in my thyroid. (6 cm in 5 weeks) I had my complete thyroid removed for diagnostic purposes as the ultrasound and FNA could not 100% rule out anaplastic thyroid cancer ( cancer with poorest prognosis of all).
I understand this to be a very rare cancer, but I think treatment modes are similar to other NHL.
I am meeting with an oncologist Friday but wondered if anyone in this forum had the same diagnosis?
Hi and welcome to the Online Community, although I am so sorry to see the circumstance that brought you here.
I am not conscious of having seen someone on the site presenting in this way but there could be someone lurking in the forums.
NHL can basically appear just about anywhere where the blood flows in the body but on the whole the basic same treatment is used includes chemo, radiotherapy and some other targeted treatments.
Chemo works by melting/breaking g down the growth areas and this is then discharged from the body.
On my long journey I found the best way to navigate the various challenges that a cancer diagnosis brings was by talking with people who are on the same journey.
I was diagnosed 20 yers ago with a rare type of skin NHL and so am still around due to NHL being very treatable,
Make sure you take some notes (note book) during your appointment and come back with your treatment plan and the names of any chemo as we can help out with this
When you have the time it would be helpful if you could put some information about yourself and the journey that brought you to the Community into your profile as it really does help the Community members to help you and get to know you.
Click on your username and that will take you to your homepage. Look for ‘Edit my Profile’ click on it and start to tell us as much or as little about yourself as you want then click on save before closing the page.
Always around to help out.
Hi, yes the have been a few over the years and those people who had it have posted in the NHL group and some went straight to the Thyroid group and posted there, so you may want to pop a post in that group to to see what responses you receive. As for treatment, once you know the plan let us know and some of us may be able to share our experiences to help you through this.
John
