Hi all quick update from me, its 10 years ago today I was told I had lymphoma and the journey started, 8 rounds of rchop and a couple of delays and a stall at the end due to a false positive scan but I got there and can proudly say I am a good stat.

So to all those about to start or still struggling with treatment or post treatment, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, so hang in there and hope to see others celebrating there 5yr mark and being discharged and then may be you will remember to return and share your 10 yrs in remission so I am now officially cured.

  • Thank you Hilary, even better when we think back to over 5 years ago when my team were talking abut a few years left.

Various family things planned but we are having the day out on Sunday up north of Inverness and having dinner in a great fish restaurant with views across the Cromarty Firth and the jumping Dolphins.

Have a great time yourselves x

  • Good morning everyone, I thought I would piggyback on John's great thread to put up another celebration.

5 years ago today (25 April 15) I finished my 6th cycle of R-EPOCH, all 720+ hrs of it. This was not the end but a stepping stone to the next part of my treatment journey.

It is also just coming up to 20 years (10 May 1999) when my condition started to show its ugly face to eventually be told I could never be clear from it and it would get me in the end.

Fast forward these 20 years and I am now 2 1/2 years in remission with NED and lets hope it stays that way for years to come.

Just another 5 years to be officially cured.

    My Dear Thehighlander,

It is so nice when the oncologists are wrong!

Here's hoping for another 5 years to a cure and to 10 years of freedom!  Every day is a true gift for us all.

Celebrating with you Mike ! And with with you johnr

    Hugs to all

  • Oh John, I am using this milestone to try and get my wife Fiona to get me a bottle of Ardbeg Uigeadail - Islay Single Malt, but its not going very well ;)

  • Hi all,

Given the hope that John's post represents, I thought I would throw my hat in the ring.

The 13th of April marked my 10 years on.

R-Chop started my venture into this world and unfortunately I had an early return after 3 years. Second treatment was radiation and Maintenance. 4 years clear at this time.

This site was my first find in looking for information, however, it was the community that became invaluable in making this journey. The support, reassurance, information, personal experiences.........you name it, it's out there (even when you are not looking!).

Stay strong and keep pushing forward.

    Take care

    Rob

  • Great post Rob and even when your treatment did not turn out as you wanted your team were able go into their tool box and find the 'next thing' to get you to where you are today..

Lets look for your NHL to continue the same for many years to come....... but at the same time all the best with your next medical challenge.

Congratulations to all of you on anniversaries, years of (relative) good health and long may they keep coming. I've started planning our 40th anniversary (26 April 2020) we are hoping to take the whole family abroad for a week, not sure where but the wife (Tina) rather fancies Madeira, where we have had many happy days.

  • We just love Madeira Peter Thumbsup

    Thanks Mike Slight smile

Last time we were there I bought a bottle of Bual Madeira from the year I was born (1954). Haven't opened it as I want to save it for next year.
