Hi
I can't seem to find many examples of people who had painful spleen enlargement on diagnosis. Anyone experienced this?
I’ve got a large painful spleen. Don’t know what the answer is but would welcome any info on whether treatment can help this. I have lymphoma in my spleen and it’s enlarged. It hurts all the time. It’s like the pain when you get a stitch in your side but not quite as bad.
Hi and welcome to our corner of the Online Community, although I am so sorry to see the circumstance that brought you here.
Sorry to hear you are having pain in the Spleen and as we are not medical in any way it would all be a guess work. But it is important that you are working with your medical team as these are the folks who can give you answers.
During my treatment my Spleen just stopped working and is now a spare part in my body taking up room.
It would good id you could put some information in your profile as this really helps others when answering. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. I'm first seeing this -- but for what it's worth:
I have 23-24cm spleen, so it's enlarged. At first I thought I had no symptoms. I certainly wasn't bringing any complaints to my primary care doctor.
After the lymphoma testing, I realized the diffuse, low grade discomfort under my ribs on both sides, that happened only when I hunched over while working on something (so only very occasionally), might be related.
I had noticed my stomach was sticking out, even after I'd lost weight (on purpose with dieting and exercise).
The PET and CTs I'm told show that my intestines are pushed over a bit. But I would never know that.
I did lean over a few weeks ago and get a sharp pain in my liver side. Was told it's probably from it all being squished. (But I'm not convinced that's it.) That seem to set up the spleen side to react for a few days with sharp pains. But I try to give my insides room and not squish them, and haven't had any of that sensation since.
