Rituximab cycles

Hi All.  I was diagnosed with low grade Extra marginal low grade NHL in May.  I have it in both lungs and have had 4 cycles of Rituximab monotherapy.  I only achieved partial response.  Due to problems with my heart consultant is not too keen to move to bendamustine and Rituximab treatment.   Instead he suggests 4 cycles of Rituximab as maintenance over the next 8 months.  Has anybody had 4 cycles of Rituximab over 4 weeks, then a further 4 cycles on a weekly basis rather than every two months?

many thanks

Clive

  • Hi Clive   and a warm welcome to this corner of the Community although I am always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups.

I don’t have Extranodal marginal zone lymphoma (also called MALT lymphoma) but I was diagnosed way back in 1999 at 43 with a rare, incurable but treatable other type of Low-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013 so although my Lymphoma ‘type’ is different I do appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.

My treatment journey is rather different and I have never had any maintenance treatments as I had to go straight to Allo (donour) Stem Cell Transplant.

But I have had a shed load of Rituxitmab (over 550hrs over 3 months) as part of my main R-EPOCH. My chemo along with the Ritux was very strong and on the wloe I had no real issues. The ritux is a targeted (biological) therapy so tend to be kinder on you.

But let's look for any of the group members who have had Ritux maintenance to pick up on your post.
