Hello, I was diagnosed with non hodgkins lyphoma high grade and have currently finished my 3rd cycle however I am experiencing really bad diarrhea after each cycle I am currently taking anti diarrhea with no improvements also I have a colostomy so I'm not sure if that is the reason. Does anyone have this problem and if so how are you dealing with it? Cause it makes it really hard to sleep too.
Hi again Starizz, sorry to hear about the challenges you are having. I did have some bad times of diarrhea but on the whole diarrhea meds did the job for me. I have no experience in having a colostomy but I can see that this could make the problem even more challenging.
There is a general Ileostomy, colostomy and stoma support group on the site so why not join the group and put up your post there.
I do hope you get this fixed.
Thank you will check the stoma support group out
I have had this problem too. I had a scan a couple of weeks ago which showed an inflamed colon. They are thinking that it might be caused by the rituximab because it didn't stop when the chemo finished. I'm now doing just ritux every 12 weeks and suffer for the first few weeks after ritux each time. I mostly get pains and diarrhoea after eating. I don't really deal with it well, just limit eating for a while.
Hi, yes I get it too. I think it's one of the common side effects of r-chop. I get It like clockwork the second week after every cycle. Along with all the other side effects, nausea, no feeling in my fingertips, very reduced taste and smell, and horrible indigestion. Omeprazole does nothing for the severe indigestion, but my nurse consultant suggested ezomeprazole which is brilliant and does the trick. It's available as a medication called nexium which you can buy online. The whole digestive system is upset by RChop because as I understand it, chemotherapy kills fast growing cells, which of course is the cancer, but unfortunately we also have a lot of fast growing cells in our digestive tract, mouth, hair follicles, skin and immune system. This all gets affected.
Your hematologist or nurse consultant should be able to give you a better diarrhoea medication to help.
