Hi all, i am new ro this site, was on the newbie site, spoke to highlander, anyone else on a similar journey to me, my main worry is if i have pancreatic cancer!! Because of this mass?? MDT leaning more towards Lymphoma, awaiting biopsy of lymphnode in my groin ( not looking forward to that either) just plain scared at the moment! Not usually a crier, but someone keeps turning on the tap lol!
Hi again Donna Spoons and a warm welcome to this corner of the Community.
Sorry to hear that you are still on the diagnosis rollercoaster. When it comes to Lymphoma the Diagnosis can often be long and complicated...... but this is Lymphoma.
Back in 1999 when I first presented with my type of rare NHL I just had a little rash...... that continually developed but apart from the skin problem (I have a rare skin NHL) I had no other symptoms until 14 years later when a brick sized mass started growing on my neck (You can hit my community name to see my story)....... the rest is history as they say.
Lymphoma is often found by accident and often as the result of an investigation for another health condition. Then it takes time to work through the tests to actually pinpoint what of the 60 types and sub-types of Lymphoma this could be....... yes 60+ types.
In my case my Consultant was 99% sure as to what 'type' I had but it took a further year, 6 separate biopsies and 2 CT scans to eventually find the truth.
After breast, prostate, lung and bowel cancers……. Lymphoma is the 5th most common type of cancer in the UK but not many people have heard of it.
The time you are in, the only thing you can do is to keep your nerve and trust in your clinical professionals.
Always around to help more or just to chat
Cheers Mike, thanks for the info, just a lot nervous ofthe journey to come!! Like everyone else i expect! Had a scan yesterday, and the radiologist made a right hash of the contrast jab, 4 jabs later!! And he finally got it in, and my veins are reasonable!! Still i am on the merry go round and cant get off lol! Thanks again regards Donna x
Being a Heamatology patient and cannula stories go hand in hand
I will say as an initial encouragement that if you do find yourself on a Lymphoma journey….. even having a rather rare and difficult to treat type of NHL (like my type) can be treated successfully and coming up to 7 years out from treatment and living a great life…… most of the other types are very treatable.
Aww thanks Mike, you are helping a lot!! I will be a bit happier when i find out about this lump of tissue they have found!! Still no symptoms from it but its 7.5 cm, havent read about anyone with this, so still a big worry!! X
Sorry for not getting back sooner, I have been out at our youngest daughters helping out in her studio…… she stays just above Loch Ness
My main mass was about 20cm x 10cm x 6cm and my chemo zapped it no problems…. so be encouraged.
We have a good friend had melon sized growth near her pancreas and it turned out to be a benign cyst and it was removed successfully with no lasting effects.
