Hello. My Mum has recently been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in her jejunum, spread to the liver.  My Dad passed away in January - this has all come as a bit of a shock.

Mum is 82 and has always been fit and well. She has just seen a nurse specialist and dietician and has been put on a low residue diet plus monthly injections.

Despite being a nurse for over 30 years I have little experience in this field. Any advice/ideas to help her live the best life she can - and in comfort - would be gratefully received.

Take care everyone.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your mum has recently had a cancer diagnosis and I know how difficult this can be for the whole family.

I'm not a member of this group but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be more easily seen.

You might also like to join either the carers only group, if you are your mum's carer, or the family and friends group if you're not, as you'll then connect directly with others who have someone living with cancer to see what they've found has helped.

It would be great if you could pop something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
