New to cancer

I'm joining this group following a diagnosis of  a NET in my right lung. My diagnosis came as a shock as the tumor was discovered following an ultrasound scan for possible gallstones. I'm now recovering following a lobectomy via VATS surgery. I would like to hear from anyone with a similar experience and how long it took to fully recover.

Knd regards

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you have been diagnosed with a NET in your right lung and I can understand what a shock this must have been for you as I too was diagnosed with cancer when I didn't expect it to be.

I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet so I've searched for previous posts which mention having VATS surgery. Although I didn't find any in this group, there are quite a lot in the lung cancer group. Bearing this in mind, I thought I'd suggest you also join the lung cancer group. If this is something that you'd like to do, clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there where you can then join and post in the same way as you did here. If you don't want to join the group, you could go to the group and use the search function to look for posts mentioning VATS surgery.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
