Hello,
My husband has just been diagnosed with pancreatic neuroendicrine cancer stage 1 3 x weeks ago aged 61. He thought he had flu over Xmas and was poorly in bed throughout Xmas n New Year. Otherwise he has never been I'll and was fit and healthy otherwise. Blood tests were done which showed high infection markers, Drs said this was consistent with having the flu.
He got worse and had to be taken to A&E, they were very confused what was wrong with him n suspected pneumonia, onltvafter having a chest x-ray did the Dr see something suspicious on the lower portion of the scan, turned our he had multiple liver abscesses. He then had a 17 x day stay in hospital being treated for severe abdominal bacterial infection and on one of the CT scans a lesion was found on his pancreas. After having endoscopic ultrasound and biopsies taken we were told 3 x weeks later he has pancreatic cancer ... we are in shock and trying to come to come to terms with the diagnosis and are taking it one day at a time. Still having various scans for staging at the moment, the last one next week being an Octreotide Scan then back to see Consultant to decide treatment options. Flu to pancreatic cancer within 3 x months ...
Hi Mrs Mole and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
It sounds like both you and your husband have had a really rough time since Christmas but hopefully, once you know what the treatment plan is, you'll both find that you're in a better place.
I don't have any experience with this type of cancer but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where hopefully one of the group members will see it and pop by to say hello.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could pop something about your husband's diagnosis and tests so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
