Hi,
I'm a 36 year old male who recently got an initial diagnosis of Carconoid Tumour in the main tract of my left lung.
I'm going for a specialist appointment on Sunday as the initial diagnosis was after routine medical screening for my new job. This started with xray and bloods, xray showed shadowing. Then further xrays, sputum sample and CT scan. After which a surgical team had me do a biopsy through my airway which ultimately confirmed the cancer.
I'm really scared about what might happen if they can't operate or treat it, I have a 3year old and 6 month old daughter and my wife. I've never been sick baring the odd cold and flu so I'm completely in shock still.
Any advise is appreciated.
Hi Broden and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I totally understand your feelings of shock in discovering that you have cancer. Like you, I'd never visited a hospital in my life or had any serious illness until I was diagnosed with melanoma 6 years ago. Since then, I've joked that I'm going to write a guide on different hospitals and, since being diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, think I should suggest a loyalty scheme to my local hospital because of the number of departments I've visited there!
I can't share any experience with the type of treatment you'll be having but replying to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussion list where hopefully it'll be more easily spotted by someone who can.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
