Neuroendocrine tumours in the small bowel

Hello,I am new to this forum. I have been diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumours in my small bowel. I am being treated with a hormone injection ,Somatuline Autogel (lanreotide) , I had to have my gallbladder removed in order to proceed with the treatment because it can affect the gallbladder and I already had gallstones. I have had one injection so far with no obvious side effects. Is there anyone out there having a similar experience?

  • Shila,

Apologies for the reply at this time of night; I'm just browsing.

My wife had neuroendocrine cancer too (and the same injections) and as you will know it's quite a complicated matter. Not that other cancers are not complicated but even in the medical profession they will admit that what you are going through is, well, ...

Anyway, I wanted to say this website can be very helpful but you may also find more help on the neuroendocrine cancer UK website. There are also 'Natter Groups ' and there may be one in your area.

    I wish you well.

Thanks for sharing.  I’ve just been told I will be starting Lanreotide injections myself.  Had surgery on my small bowel and found it had metastasized to my liver.  Reading your post I now wish they would have removed my gallbladder as I have gallstones.

it’s been a whirlwind the last 3 months so still really don’t understand everything.  Keep us posted on how your injections are going.
