Hello. I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Cancer (4cm) with metastasis in the liver last month. I’m having a final scan (gallium) in London next week to rule out further spread. If that is negative for spread I will be having the pancreas completely removed along with the surrounding nodes, the affected part of the liver and also the gallbladder (scans have shown so have 2 huge stones).
As well as worrying about the surgery (has been described as brutal by my GP) I’m also worried about the sudden affects of being type 1 diabetic as there will be no pancreas. I’ve already started taking creon as my enzymes are rubbish already.
Anyone on here had the same surgery and can share their experience and have any advice? X
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
Although I didn't have the same type of cancer as you I know what a worrying time this will be for you waiting for scans and then treatment.
I'm hoping that having 'bumped' your post back to the top of the discussion list someone from the group will be able to pop on and tell you about their experience with surgery for pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer.
While you're waiting for replies, if you haven't already, you could use the search bar in the group to look for previous posts which mention surgery and have a read through some of those.
Wishing you all the best.
x
