I know how horrible waiting for tests and treatment is and from your post it seems that you've been waiting 7 weeks since being diagnosed for this scan.
I had a different type of cancer so I don't know if this is a normal wait for a gallium scan or not. I have just had a couple of skin lesions removed and I know I will have up to 6 weeks to wait for the results of these.
Most cancers only grow slowly and I'm sure your team wouldn't be making you wait for the scan without treatment if they felt that it was detrimental to your health. However, I know all the waiting can be very hard for your mental health.
I don't know what question you have asked your colorectal nurse but perhaps you could explain how stressed it's making you having no idea when the scan will be. Could they perhaps give you an indication of how long it normally takes for these scans to happen.
You could also post your question about waiting times for a gallium scan in the ask a nurse section of the online community and one of the specialist nurses will aim to reply within 3 working days. If this is something that you'd like to do clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment in your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
