I am due to have lutetium therapy in just over a weeks time. If anyone has gone through this already please let me know what to expect in regard to how sick I am going to feel and what pain (if any) resulted from it.

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I haven't had this therapy but noticed that you hadn't had any responses to your post yet.

I typed 'lutetium' into the search bar in this group which brought up a few older posts which discuss this. If you haven't already tried this you could do the same and see if the posts help. You could always respond to any of the more recent ones if you wanted to ask any specific questions.

    Wishing you all the best

Hi, it looks like I'm a little late to catch you before your therapy date. I hope it all goes OK.

Its generally well tolerated. They often give an infusion of amino acids which can give you some nausea over the first 18hrs - if this does happen then your doctor should be able to up the anti sickness meds for the next dose which does seem to work. Its fairly common to feel a bit flushed / red in the face when you wake up the next morning.

Another thing is that you may find yourself getting up for a wee a few times the first night, but thats good really as it helps flush the radioactivity out from your kidneys and bladder quicker.
