Is anyone taking this drug for their cancer?
Hi, my husband is also stage 4 but of unknown origin which has spread to his liver and bones.
He was diagnosed in December 2021, by then it was already stage 4. He was started on Captem but this had no effect and the tumours continued to grow. After this, he had a 5 month course of Everolimus. Unfortunately, this didn't work for him either. He did find it easy to take with none of the usual sickness from chemo. Although he did come down with a very bad lung infection and spent two weeks in hospital. After this, he was put on a prophylactic course of co trimoxazole which he has just stopped this week even though he finished Everolimus in October last year.
He is now having Folfox chemo and will start his 6th cycle next Monday as his scans last week showed the tumours were stable. This means he will have another 3 months of Folfox.
It's really good news that your husbands cancer is reacting to the Everolimus, I hope he doesn't have too many side effects from it and his tumours continue to shrink.
Dear Trunter, thankyou for your message. I do hope your husband will do well with his latest treatment. My husband has more scans this week so we’ll see how the treatment is going. The Everolimus has not helped the liver and bones much so far so fingers crossed.
All good wishes to you both.
