Good morning
this is going to be like something out of a novel but I’m absolutely petrified at the moment but here goes.
around 2 and a half years ago I began experiencing excessive sweating, flushed face, nausea and an urgent need to open my bowels. I attend endocrinology and they said I had hyperhidrosis. If you’ve not heard of it, it causes excessive sweating. Up until 3 months ago I learnt to live with but then I began having frequent episode of facial flushing, nausea, urgent need to open bowels, sometimes loose stools sometimes “normal” as each day goes on my symptoms are getting worse.
i am waiting for my 24 hour 5HIAA urine results but I’m so worried about the result. Lots of questions are running around my head, has it spread, will I die, what will my children do, what’s the treatment it’s really affecting me, I’m not sleeping, eating, I’ve gone from being very sociable to rotting on the sofa, any advice is appreciated thank you
Hi Rushy83
Welcome to the Online Community.
I am sorry to hear that you have been experiencing some challenging symptoms and are concerned about them possibly being due to neuroendocrine cancer.
During my diagnosis and treatment for my endometrial cancer it could sometimes help to focus on what I actually knew for sure rather than worry about things that may or may not come up in the future. I do understand that the possibility of a cancer diagnosis is a really scary thing and it can all feel very overwhelming.
So to focus on what you do know at the moment- you have had some unpleasant symptoms and you have very sensibly got these checked by the endocrinologist. Because your symptoms have continued to develop you have gone back and reported this. They have taken your concerns seriously and they have done a further test (5HIAA)
Have you had any results from the test back yet?
I know for me, once I knew what I was dealing with and what the treatment may be- things felt a little less overwhelming and more in control.
I understand that you are worried that there is cancer and it may have spread. I understand your worries about being a Mum. But at the moment try to focus on the things you do know and if it does turn out to be something serious, then if that does happen then deal with that later. At the moment there could be different things causing your symptoms and ruling out the most serious potential causes first is often what happens.
While you are waiting for your results, why not give the Support Line a call and talk things through with one of the advisors. There is someone there from 8am-8pm everyday. You can also chose to speak to one of the nurses about your symptoms and what may happen next.
I hope that you get some answers soon and in the meantime we are here if you need us.
Jane
