Hi,
I'm new to this group.
My partner has had a diagnosis of myeloma in December. He's now on his second cycle of chemotherapy.
He is slowly feeling better. I was wondering if anyone is going through the same.
Sarah
Yes my husband was diagnosed late August. His chemo has been stopped just before his fifth cycle as he has some side effects. His consultant thinks his levels have reached the lowest that they are going to at this stage in any event.
He hasn’t been unwell during the whole process - he was diagnosed after suffering severe back pain.
STC is our next step so I’ll keep you updated. I know everyone is different but I think our paths will follow the same pattern.
Stay strong and all the very best
Jane
Hi Jane,
Thank you for the message.
My partner has just started his 2nd cycle of chemotherapy, the numbers are going in the right direction. He also was diagnosed from severe back ache and pain, so much so he could hardly get out of bed.
Can I ask please... what is STC?
Sarah
Hello,
My partner was diagnosed in December with AL Amyloidosis (rare disease) and Multiple Myeloma.
He is only 42.
He travelled to London (3-4hrs from our home)29th December to start emergency treatment.
He came home just over a week ago and has to go to London 2 day each week to continue treatment. We love having him home although he’s still very ill, fatigued, constantly feels cold although his temp is fine. His mobility is poor but he can manage to get around the house at a slow pace.
Hes being treated with Chemotherapy. They tried him on Velcade once which put him in dangerously low bp zone so will hold off using that again until he’s stronger.
Its tough seeing a loved one suffer.
How are you both coping?
Hi
So sorry to hear that - but we have to stay positive as there are so many different treatments to try.
my husband has been on velcade thalidomide and steroids and has just had side effects after his fourth round hence stopping treatment and looking at STC.
you must both be absolutely exhausted physically and mentally.
I don’t know about you but I feel so frustrated that there’s nothing I can do to make things better especially seeing the struggle with mobility

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your partner.
As far as the chemotherapy is going, so far so good, the numbers are going in the right direction.
I'm still working full time and doing everything at home as my partner gets tired doing anything, and sometimes his back still hurts.
Im exhausted most of the time. I've managed to get a cleaner to help out and also working 1 afternoon at home, which will help.
