skin cancer, mgus and now endometrial cancer

Hi - this is my first post in this forum.

I've had a few cancer scares over the past few years.

It started about 5 years ago with some biopsies for BCCs, all of those benign, though some others are still being monitored.

Then 2 years ago, there was the MGUS thing - very low immunoglobin and very high light chains (1200, range 70-400) - but again, just being monitored.

Now I'm 9 weeks into an endometrial cancer diagnosis, waiting on a decision about treatment - the real thing this time.

I'd love to know if there's a link between having MGUS and developing other cancers.

Thanks

  • Hi . I've just noticed you've joined this forum as well as the Womb cancer group where I've replied.

I'm sorry I can't help with an answer to your question about MGUS, I have tagged the Community Champ of this group so hope he'll be along soon the welcome you and offer support.

Sending you all the best, B xx

  • Hi Skippy,

Welcome to the forum, although I am really sorry to read about your health history, you have had an incredibly rough ride recently.

In terms of your question on MGUS, I am not a medical expert. I suppose the only thing I would offer is that the “U” in MGUS stands for undetermined, so there is possibly still quite a lot of research that still needs to be done to determine what implications MGUS has. I do know that for the vast majority of people, MGUS does not develop into anything else and I really hope that this will be the case for you as well.

    All the best

    Greg
