finished having chemo about 2 months ago ,.i was on velcade ,i had 52 injections ,according to my doctor at the hospital that was enought for my body to take ,at first i was hospitalised at least 3 times ,usual chest stuff that lead to pneumonia,im back next week and dont know how itll go ,it depends on the bloodtest wgen i had my last chemo, i was told to stop taking all meds related to myeloma ,because my bloods were great ,hope they are just as good this monday ,the effects it has on me is that i just dont give a shite anymore ,nothing is important ,things dont have the same meaning as they did youfind out how your family is ,and who youre friends are ,my daughter cared for me ,but that stopped when i lent a friend some money , she didnt want me to so we argued ,havent seen her or spoke to her since then ,thing is though ,im not bothered my lad comes , but i think its more from duty though,.perhaps its because im 73 and lived a life that i feel this way , so lets see what happens on monday after the latest bloods are done ,cya ,geoff
Hi yogeoff,
Welcome to the forum, although I wish I could have met you in better circumstances. I’m really pleased your bloods are looking good at the moment and here’s hoping that continues tomorrow as well. I’m sorry things haven’t been so good on the family front, I found when I was on dexamethasone my emotions were all over the place - the wildest of highs but also the deepest of lows. A cancer diagnosis and it’s ensuing impact can have profound effects on families and I’m really hoping yours will settle down with time. For me, the treatment has got to be worth it for health and happiness and I’m wishing both those things for you.

Greg, yesterday after all our worries as our end of 4wks results time had arrived we got some great news.
the bone marrow shows no cancer and the blood tests taken the same morning show the same!
The Dr told us that life of tablets and marrow checks will go on for a further 8mths as they’ve found that returns of myeloma are more rare.
can you believe it....what a weight has been lifted.

Hi John,
That is fantastic news, I am so pleased for you and Anita. The treatment for myeloma has really come on over the last few years and this is such great news to hear. I’m really hoping that this gives you the confidence and drive to know that things are heading in the right direction and here’s hoping that things will go very smoothly over the next few months.
Greg
It was so unexpected but we know we have another 8mths of treatment and checks to be sure of a good final outcome. It’s not as though you walk away from all you health thing as sickness & gripes are around now and of course stamina and the need to put on all the weight Anita has lost which is hard work for Anita where as I’d eat it on in 10days tops.
But we are enjoying the discomforts a little bit more now.
Bet at least there’s no home schooling for next week so that’s a small blessing but depending on how you manage to entertain them.
Well a little fresh air and a walk for our dog this afternoon but really wrapped up.
take care and no doubt I’ll message soon.. john
