Hi everyone. Vespa here. AKA Kevin.
Not heard or seen much activity recently and just wondered how things are with people in the forum ? The extended heat I guess for us is tough? Not sleeping as great? Fatigue? Diet not the same as normal. Just thinking about you all. Chicken2 Thehighlander Cakey I am doing ok. Still in Remmision. Hip is doing ok. Started swimming again. But did not make the commonwealth games team Keep well everyone. Kevin.
Good morning KevinVespa and good to hear from you.
As you all may know, I don’t have Myeloma but only stick my nose in to the group as I volunteer with Macmillan and look after all the 14 blood cancer groups including the Stem Cell Group on the Community…… a glorified Receptionist
Great to hear that you have got back into swimming Kevin. We have actually been watching the Commonwealth Games……. but being a true skinflint North Eastern Scot (now in the Highlands) we are watching it on BBC Alba for free …… not that we can speak Gaelic ……. but we can recognise words like Hospital, Ambulance, Internet, Computer, as there are Gaelic words for these
We are not having the excessive heat up with us so it’s comfortable but we were down in Surrey to see our 3 South granddaughters at the end of June and added in 4 days in London taking in some showed during the very hot period…..
As for my 2 types of rare T-Cell Lymphoma’s they remain asleep.
My first 3 monthly PSA blood test result after being diagnosed with Prostate Cancer back in mid April has come down from 13.5 to 8.3…… so that is encouraging and I remain on Active Surveillance with my next MRI due in Oct/Nov and if nothing has changed the PSA/MRI repeat tests will go to 6 months.
Keep well everyone.
great news, got two friends gone through prostate cancer, but after radiology, but back to good readings, an earlier screening programme is needed, like we have for bowel cancer, take care Mr Mike
Hi Kevin / Mike / Everyone,
Delighted that you are both doing well.
Medically, all is good: the latest note from my consultant says that my remission is "extremely stable". The last chemo cycle was unusually tough for me - the fatigue just went on and on . The current one is a lot better though.
I am not following the Commonwealth Games at all. Mike, watching in Gaelic sounds like a good trick! I learnt basic Irish during the first Covid lockdown (I am not Irish but my links to Ireland are... complicated) so maybe I could follow some of it on BBC Alba as the two languages are related.
Kevin, just as you are taking up swimming, I am trying to restart running. I do a lot of exercise already, but it's nice to have another option: however, since my diagnosis, my body has been refusing. Forcing it is proving to be one hell of a challenge!
Also on exercise, but coming back to the hot weather, I am rearranging my schedule so that my gym workouts are earlier on, and my walking is mostly earlier in the day or in the evening. In my world of semi-retirement, it's not a problem!
All the best, everyone.
