Currently struggling with very heavy fatigue. Or is it?

I am on 2 years since diagnosis , treatment of chemo and SCT 16 months ago. Currently on Len and anti viral. I don’t feel any different on my week off len.
i am writing this after two days of 15 hours sleep. No energy and feeling heavy.
anybody experience the same? I feel I’m being lazy and keep saying to myself get motivated, but the energy levels , wow very low.
I sometimes think I’m bored and even depressed and this manifests into sleeping. I just don’t know , head is foggy all the time. Sorry for long post

  • Hi Rushy,

I am in remission too, and know full well that it can be tough in its own right, something that I sometimes have to explain to people ("You mean that you take chemo even while you are in remission???")

Please be kind to yourself. You know that it's the drugs which are causing fatigue, certainly it would take that to need 15 hours sleep - because your body must need it.

It is not 'laziness': your body has its own agenda, just as there have been times when I have had 3 lunches - my body simply needed lots of calories!

In terms of practical measures, you could talk to your doctor about reducing the lenalidomide dose (side effects are often cumulative after a couple of years).. I understand that - counterintuitive and diificult though it is - gentle exercise can be helpful too.

  • Thanks for the reply. Yeah I know the frustration of explaining things to people. I will discuss about lowering my len. I have come off it before due to increase in neuropathy. Can’t remember how I felt re fatigue. I dog walk each day usually 1-2 miles steady. The accumulation is a factor it seems t happen every 5/6 weeks . Thanks again
