Hello

I was  recently diagnosed with asymptomatic meyloma in April this year.

Last Tuesday due to the fact that my paraprotein was at 41 and I have hypercalcemia and my light chains were/are elevated they chose to start chemotherapy.

Last Tuesday I was given chemotherapy via injections. Wednesday, Thursday I was ok but Yesterday and Today I'm feeling very weak in the legs mainly.

Is this something that has been experienced by anyone else?

  • Hi , I have a different blood cancer so had a different type of treatment. My first main chemo was through IV and lasted over 120hrs (5 nights/6 days in hospital) and I generally did ok but Fatigue did kick in as time went on..

My great Specialist Cancer Nurse (SCN) warned me that weaknesses would start to appear, she also said the less I did the more pronounced these problems would become.

So she did encourage me to keep some simple regular activity going….. in fact during my 6 x 6 days in hopital I would take regular walks with my two chemo pumps to keep my muscles working.

I do hope that things improve for you.

  • I’m in cycle 1 and due to have my 3rd round of injections tomorrow. I have suffered from severe fatigue after both sets so far but normally 3-4 days after. I did call my key worker who said it’s normal!!

I’m continuing to work but am able to log off if the fatigue gets too much.

I’ve also had a intramedullary nail in my femur so my leg is still recovering from the op too

  • Bless you, Bumar. I think you are amazing to carry on working whilst undergoing your treatment ... especially right at the start when you don't know how it's going to affect you - as well as an operation on top of everything else.

I hope & pray that your recovery is swift and uncomplicated.

Take great care and keep safe.

  • I had a severe skin rash reaction during my chemo. I have multi-myeloma and was treated via injection. Three months on and severel stays in hospital and I think a reason for the rash side effect has bee identified. I now take my cyclophosphamide and
dexamethasone 2 days after my vecade injection. Seems to be working. Hope this helps someone. Insomnia is an issue now,  getting 2-3hours sleep, and fatigued.

  • Hi there, I have just joined today. I am on my 3rd cycle of twice weekly injections and taking thalidomide, morphine and various other concoctions twice daily, I am very weak especially in my legs! I was diagnosed in July as a result of having a fractured spine. I have discussed the weakness and lightheaded feeling and it is put down to the medication especially the thalidomide. I can’t drive and am totally reliant on family and friends for everything so frustrating!!! I hope you are maybe feeling a little stronger let me know and take care xx
