Self isolation because of omecron

With the rapid soaring of the omecron variant I am feeling a need to reduce my exposure. I wonder whether I should be self isolating to protect myself as my myeloma consultant suggests my protection even with 3 vaccinations is still not as good as most people.

  • Hi again , these are challenging times for folks with reduced immunity and it is hard to decide the best way to control our environments so that we don't open ourselves up to any infection not just Covid.

I think we all do what we feel right. The 'shielding' title has not been brought back as the Government are looking for folks to do the right thing for their circumstances based on the last 20 months experience.

This link will take you to some Macmillan Information about Covid guidance for people with cancer.

I have Lymphoma and am 6 years out from my second Stem Cell Transplant so still classed as Extremely Clinically Vulnerable (CEV), I have had my 3 jabs but am in no way underestimating the need to take care.

But we have some ground rules, but at the same time we don't let the 'fear' of covid define how we live.

We control who we come in contact with, who comes to our house, where we go, what we do.

Family and friends visiting the house are doing LFT tests every time and we are ensuring good ventilation and hand sanitisation...... and no cuddles for the granddaughters.

Our oldest daughter and three granddaughters have all had covid so we know how to control contact during these times.

Wishing you all the best as you navigate these challenging times.
