Hi, new here need some help with blood tests.

Hi was diagnosed with severe osteoperosis last October out of the blue when I fractured a vertebrae in my spine just standing up at the sink.  I was sent for an X-ray which showed the fracture, a huge kidney stone and Osteoperosis.  I was then sent for a Dexa scan which showed a horrendous score for my age (63 years old) of -4.8 in the spine.  I started treatment for Osteoperosis straightaway a weekly tablet of Alendronic Acid.  I saw a specialist who told me to ask my doctor to investigate with there were any secondary causes for osteoperosis such as Parathyroid isses, a bone profile and a SPEP test.

My GP sent me for the blood tests and all came back normal but he missed off the SPEP test, I queried it  and he said as a I had a urine test (Bence Jones) which showed no Protein found then it was not necessary.

This week I due some blood tests so I asked my GP again for the SPEP test which this time he agreed to.

I had the full issue of blood tests, kidney, liver, thyroid, full blood count, various vitaimins, folic acid. Cholesterol, diabetes and the Spep.

The results of the SPEP are follows:-

SERUM TOTAL PROTEIN LEVEL   6.1G/L  (BELOW RANGE (NORMAL RANGE 66.0 - 67)

SERUM PROTEIN ELECTROPHORESIS  (IMMUNE PARESIS PRESENT)

SERUM PARAPROTEIN  (NO PARAPROTEIN DETECTED)

II do not know what immume paresis present means? Can anybody help me with that please, I have googled it but cannot find an answer, ans also what the total Serum protein level being low means. Thanks.
