Hello there, I am reaching out to others who are supporting a loved one with Mesothelioma. I am looking after my 79 year old Uncle who was diagnosed with T3 Pleural Meso in May. Thankfully he remains symptom free although he has begun to loose weight recently. He started on Immunotherapy and had 4 cycles. Sadly, it has had no effect and the cancer has spread quite significantly whilst he has been receiving treatment. He is now going to try chemotherapy. I wondered if anyone had experienced any benefits of Chemo for Meso? My Dad had the same cancer 12 years ago and sadly chemotherapy didn't work for him. I wondered in the passing of time if the treatment had improved. I am living in hope. My thoughts and payers are with you all x
Hi M23 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that your uncle's mesothelioma didn't respond to immunotherapy and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for the chemotherapy.
I had a different type of cancer, so can't share any relevant experiences with you, but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be more easily seen.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your uncle's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
My husband has stage 4 mesothelioma was diagnosed in July he has had only two immunotherapy treatments so far I don’t know if it’s working but he seems worse to me he has a cough and gets out of breath easily he is in denial and thinks he will get better I am scared of what he will go through.
Hi Grandma d
My husband also diagnosed with Mesothelioma in June - he has his 3rd round of immunotherapy tomorrow - CT scan to see if having any effect is on 25 October.
I am also scared of what the future holds & what he will go through. Just keeping our fingers crossed . My husband wasn’t given a stage, he was just told it had been found fairly early.
Live to you & your husband.
Thank you. I wish you r husband all the best and hopefully he will have a better chance. My husband has been really having a rough time with his breathing we spent the day yesterday at the hospital. They are sending him for more tests. He is supposed to get another treatment on the 13 th of October . He is not doing well.
