My husband has just been diagnosed and is currently waiting on oncologist appointment how long does this normally take.
Hi Bey and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that your husband has recently been diagnosed with mesothelioma and I know what a stressful time waiting for appointment can be.
Has your husband been appointed a cancer nurse specialist (CNS), sometimes referred to as a keyworker, yet? If so, they would be the best person to ask how long the wait to see an oncologist is likely to be at the hospital he is under. If he doesn't have a CNS yet, then he could phone his consultant's secretary to ask the same question.
When you feel up to it, it would be great if you could pop something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi,
sorry to hear about your husband. My husband was only diagnosed in January this year. We were devastated and I was an emotional wreck. He is only 65 years of age. The waiting is horrendous, sleepless nights, worry etc
my husband started chemotherapy which we were worried about but he did so well and was not as poorly as we expected with it. He had special large tablets for nausea each chemo session which lasted 5 days, these got him through it. The scan after showed a huge reduction in cancer. We know he cannot be cured but hopefully managed, so try to remain positive.
the next step at some point should there be any changes will be immunotherapy.
we are now back to living and enjoying our lives as normal xx
Thankyou for replying, sorry to hear of your husband also. my husband is 64 and an electrician and yes it has been a horrendous time . We seen oncologist on Friday and he has recommended immunotherapy to start in 3 weeks, wasn’t offered chemo so now wondering why. It is just a constant worry.
Thankyou my husband has now seen oncologist and is waiting to start immunotherapy treatment.
Maybe you could ask why starting on immunotherapy, I have heard if it works it is very good ! In Scotland it is the first line treatment. It wasn’t in the Uk in January. If your husband doesn’t get on with immunotherapy then maybe chemo ….
Thankyou, have read about it myself and hopefully it will help him, but will ask why starting with this but it may just be as you said it wasn’t getting used in UK in January.
How have you been? I have been heart broken, very teary x if you want to request me as a friend you can….
Yes I have been same worse some days than others. How do I request you as friend
