Hi, I’m 57 yrs old and was diagnosed in December 2020 with Peritoneal Mesothelioma. I had a 12 1/2 hour Hipec Surgery in February 2021 at Johns Hopkins, and now I am doing immunotherapy every other week-opdiva and Yervoy.
I get ct scans every 3 months. I would love to hear from people especially people that have this type of mesothelioma or anyone who has done this type of immunotherapy,
Hi Patricia2 and a warm welcome to the Online Community. I just dropped by and noticed you've not yet had a reply to your post. I myself have a different type of cancer and haven't had immunotherapy so I'm sorry I can't answer but I'm sure someone from this group will be along soon to answer.
It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourself and your journey to date. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) It’s helpful to other members with a similar diagnosis who can then hopefully answer your questions. It also means that you don't have to keep writing the same thing over and over. You can amend or update it at any time.
Wishing you all the best, B xx

Hi Patricia, I’m 42 and was diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma in February this year. I have had 6 rounds of chemotherapy, which the disease responded well to. Initially there was no option for surgery, which I was gutted about, but after the recent scan I was invited to come down to Basingstoke for a laparoscopy with a view to operate ASAP afterwards. At last I had a glimmer of hope! I had the lap yesterday but was devastated to find out that CRS and HIPEC is not possible due to the position of the disease over the small bowel. Once again, I feel like I have taken 10 steps backwards in this awful journey we face.
Glad you are doing well and would love to know how you’re getting on with the immunotherapy
Hi. I’m so sorry you are not a candidate for crs hipec. Have you tried any alternative treatments?
I did Immunotherapy for 10 months until the cancer came back in April. I had 3 tumors and one of them caused me to have severe diarrhea. I had 4 rounds of chemo. (Carboplatin and Alimta) and after the first round the diarrhea went away. The chemo worked so well that I did not need another crs hipec surgery. Right now, I am taking a break from treatment and praying my tumors don’t grow. I am in the US. I didn’t realize this was a UK board!
