We have just been told my husband has mesothelioma but he has not had a biopsy yet.  He was very poorly 6weeks ago and had fluid drained. But he looks fine now?  I am not sure how this progresses and am wondering if he does actually have this.  Until biopsy I’m not sure …..

  • Hello

it sounds as if we are going though a similar thing, they thought my husband had pleurisy but did a chest x-ray just in case it has been a roller coaster since, the same as your husband they took a little fluid off, and then was sent for a  biopsy which did confirm our worst fear of Mesothelioma, he had his first chemo just before Christmas.

My heart goes out to you both as I think the not knowing is just horrible sending a hug and lets hope its not mesothelioma xx

  • Thank you for responding.  The thing I cant understand is my husband now appears well ? No more fluid build up since it was drained in November.

was chemotherapy the only option ? How quickly did your husband have chemotherapy after biopsy diagnosis ?

we will get a second opinion, as the consultant we visited was so negative.

  • I have had Mesothelioma for 13 years from Diagnosis and Im always being told how well I look. Its very deceiving when you have a hidden disease. I get funny looks when I put the Blue Badge up. It does take a biopsy to prove Mesothelioma but also they can grow the cells in the fluid they drain. I would push for a biopsy as you need the proof to claim all the benefits especially the Gov Pay out. I had my Chemo start 4 months after diagnosis. Good luck to your Father xx Mavis Nye
