Hi,

My mum has been offered the Mars2 trial and we would like to know how the first 2 chemotherapy sessions are on the body. Have people found them generally tough or ok. She was hoping to go abroad to France in July and wanted to know if it is best to start chemo or wait. She is anxious about waiting as doesn’t want it to worsen, but also wants to be able to enjoy the family holiday. Any advice welcome. X

  • Hi Jocoju,

My husband was on the Mars 2 trial last year, the first 2 chemotherapy sessions he found ok, tired for a few days after coming of the steroids, but otherwise not too bad.   It got progressively worse up to the sixth session, but did manage them all.    He was not selected for the operation.

His last scan in April showed his Mesothelioma was stable and had not spread.    Good luck to your Mum.   X

  • Hi Jocoju,

I have had the chemo and the EPD operation.  I found the first session made me a bit tired and I had terrible sickness BUT after changing the anti-sickness drugs to those which suited me better I never had the problem again.  So my advise would be, get on with the treatment but don't put up with sickness.  Get straight back to either your oncologist or your GP and change the anti-sickness tablets immediately if they are not working for your mum.  Hope the holiday goes well.
