End of treatment.

Hi Marhen, so sorry to hear about your husband.  It should not be the end of his treatment, not if he is physically active and reasonably well.  He should be referred to one of the trials that are going on.  There is a full list of them on the Mesothelioma UK website.  You have a right in the NHS for a second opinion.  Why not ask to be referred to one of the specialist Meso centres eg. Glenfield Hospital, Leicester.  Prof Fennell there is leading a number of trials, one of which may be suitable for him.  If you contact Mesothelioma UK they will give you the advice you don't seem to be getting at the moment.  Do get in touch with them either call 0800 169 2409 or info@Mesothelioma.UK.com to email them.

I am from the North East which has a relatively high number of Mesothelioma patients compared to other parts of the country, but even the Oncologists up here are not aware of all the treatments/trials . Yes by all means get a second opinion, which I intend to do when my Mesothelioma starts to grow again (I'm currently on my 4th cycle of Chemo with a very slight reduction in my Pleural thickening after my second scan) I have been told that Professor Dean Fennell (Mesothelioma specialist) from Liecester is happy to give patients a second opinion via the NHS. Thank you for your advice Today we went to Southampton General Hospital as Henry had a phone call reference a trial 

They have offered him a trial starting on June 10th. We are going to chat with oncologist on Thursday in Swindon about it.  He,s got a 

whole load of paperwork to read.  It’s one of those that I believe it’s between 4 people 3 will be given the drug by drip feed but the 4th will 

be given a placebo which is I believe just saline  but you won,t know whether you,re receiving the trial drug or not
