My husband had an Oncology appointment today And we are both so pleased that they couldn't find any significant changes with his Mesothelioma.  He was diagnosed with Meso in May 2016 and we were told he had about 18 months to live. Since diagnosis he has been really well, he does tend to get tired ( but he is always very active anyway) and a little breathless after climbing stairs - but nothing like we had imagined! Is this normal progression of Meso after such a diagnosis?

we are both so pleased with today's results - but I'm worried about how we will cope when he starts to feel ill. Has anybody got any similar circumstances? I would love to heat from you.

    Hi

Just wanted to let you know my husband had his scan and they say that nothing has changed since his previous scan, so they will wait and monitor.  Another scan booked for November. Apart from being a bit breathless at times he looks really well.  Are there other people that have been like this, will there be scans every three months until it changes? So relieved, but at the same time dreading the next scan.

    Hi Cub,

Exactly the same thing happened to my husband. His scan on 8 August showed no significant changes since the one in June! Whilst we were very happy with that news, like you we are dreading the next one.

I think we must live every single day to the full while he is still in good health.

good luck in November - let me know how he gets on.  I will post results of our scan here too.

    xx

    Hi Greywing,

we got our travel insurance through All Clear online. They were excellent and extremely reasonable too. We needed 12 days cover for several countries that we will be visiting and they gave a great service at a very reasonable cost! I thought it would be a huge amount of money for the insurance cover but it was just a few hundred pounds! Highly recommend them!

Hope you have a wonderful cruise.

We are the same, we know the appointment Nov but no date confirmed yet.

Are you going to a specialist hospital?

Have you been told what the next stage is, and talked about chemo?

Sorry, I ask a lot of questions. You just need to talk it over with people in the same sutuation, I hope you don't mind.

Thanks for that I will try them if other insurers become difficult. I am planning a cruise over Christmas which would be the easiest way to get over that period as well visit some of our favourite islands and scatter some of my husbands ashes where he wished .

    Hi Carol,

I'm 69 and was diagnosed with Meso in April and I've had 4 cycles of chemo. The side effects, for me were quite severe: nausea, tiredness, awful taste. I had few symptoms before treatment, so the treatment has badly affected my quality of life. The last two C T scans showed little change so my doctor has cancelled the remaining two scheduled chemo cycles. I'm also taking part in a drug trial that involves weekly hospital visits. Because I have few symptoms- maybe an increase in tiredness similar to your husband- the severity of the disease is sometimes hard to think of as real.

    Hi,

Your experience of carbo/pem is similar to mine, the side effects I find extremely hard to endure as were last years side effects from cisplatin and pemetrexed.
