Husband was diagnosed last summer. Had to drain his pleural effusion for months until the adhesion seemed to work and chemo stabilised him for a while. He now has pain in his side and struggles to sleep. Disappointingly, since we had his pleural drain removed, he had to go back to have fluid drained at the hospital. Is the pain normal/ sign of progression? Would like to help him be more comfortable and sleep better. Any info or suggestions very gratefully received. He's due another scan in April. Many thanks.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the online community

I'm not a member of this group but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet.

It must be very distressing for both you and your husband that he's in pain and struggling to sleep. Has he spoken to his CNS about this as they wouldn't want your husband to be experiencing this?

You could post your question asking if what your husband is experiencing is normal or a sign of progression in the ask a nurse section of the online community and one of the specialist nurses will aim to respond within 3 working days.

It would be great if you could pop something about your husband's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
