Hi everyone!
I am 34 years old and recently diagnosed stage 1b melanoma after removal of a mole on my leg.
I had a WLE & SLNB 3 weeks ago yesterday & called the hospital yesterday to see how long my results would take as hadn’t heard anything. She advised me they had received notification that the pathology results were on their way on Monday & my consultant would have to review them. Today I have just received notification of an appointment in 2 weeks time (25th April) to discuss whether the lymph nodes have come back positive or not.
I hope I'm not being overly positive but could that mean that the results will be good news as the app is for 2 weeks time & if it was bad news surely they would get me in sooner? Or am I being silly?
Hi Fiona27 and a very warm welcome to the group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I was diagnosed with melanoma Stage 2a nearly 9 years ago now but I can still remember the anxiety of waiting for results.
Unfortunately you can't read anything into the timing of your appointment, either good or bad, as once the results are back from the laboratory and reviewed by your consultant they then have to be discussed at the MDT (multidisciplinary team) meeting which are generally only held once a week.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
I'll be keeping everything crossed for you.
Thank you latchbrook for your reply! Yeah you’re right, I understand. Fingers & toes crossed they come back negative. Fab, I will do that! Xx
