Nodular melanoma

Hello, I'm new and a bit overwhelmed by my diagnosis.

Had a shave off my shoulder 6/12/24, was told 23/12/24 it was a nodular melanoma, had it dug out 14/1/25, and was told it's Breslow score was 5.6.

Seeing a plastic surgeon on Tuesday, for consultation, but have been told I will have a wle and slnb.

My heart goes out to everyone with any cancer diagnosis.

Wonder if anyone else has had a similar Breslow score, and similar investigations?

Sending love and light to you all x

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the melanoma group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I was diagnosed with an amelanotic melanoma 8 years ago and had a WLE and SLNB. I'm happy to tell you about my experiences with those operations if there's anything you want to ask.

When you say you had a Breslow "score" of 5.6 do you mean depth?

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

    • Hello latchbrook, I've seen a plastic surgeon, and I'm having a WLE and SLNB hopefully in the next few weeks.
    • It can't come quick enough because the anxiety of waiting is awful isn't it.
    • I asked him about my Breslow being 5.6 thick and he said he has operated on thicker ones.
    • I've never had high blood pressure and had it checked today in the chemist and it was 148 over 89.
    • I don't know whether it's anxiety or the melanoma causing it, I'm going to try and see my GP tomorrow.
    • Hope you are doing good after your WLE and SLNB
    • Thank you for reaching out to me, wishing you well.
    • Best wishes
