Hi, I'm new here. I had a mole checked last week and I'm straight on the 2 week pathway. Dr has said he strongly suspects melanoma, he's put 3 types. I've had the mole for 2 years, I didn't realise it was as long as that but time passes. I'm now so scared.
Hi
Like I was told, don't worry until you get the results. My Doctor guaranteed my mole was not cancerous then a week later he had to phone me with a positive result. They can do marvellous things nowadays. My cancer is not curable but is treatable. I'm on immunotherapy once a month for 24 months. Yes there are operations possibly needed,I've had 2. Take each step as it comes. I have remained positive throughout and this definitely works.
My medical team are fantastic, don't be scared to ask them anything
Good luck .... Chris
Hi there,
Like dragon lady says, there is amazing things can be done for melanoma. The unknown can be unbearable but reaching out on this forum will help while you are waiting. I’m halfway through immunotherapy which I get once a month. I didn’t have a primary site so it wasn’t detected until I was stage 4. That was over a year ago.
One of the lovely members recommended the George McGavin programme, A year to save my life, it was uplifting to watch. I googled Jim Allison who discovered Immunotherapy and he has a documentary called breakthrough.
Take care xx
Hi, sorry to hear this - it is such a worrying time but at least you are in the right hands now! Can I ask how old you are? I am 45 and am the same in that I noticed a new mole last year and only mentioned to my doctor when I went about something unrelated. To be honest I didn’t think that much of it as it’s not bothered me at all but it looked darker than all my other moles. She took a picture of it and sent straight through to dermatology who came back straight away that it needs to be removed. I’ve had to wait 3 months for the operation to remove and am now 1 week into waiting for the results! Feel free to message me if you need to chat to someone who understands what you are going through now! X
