Bit of a background

Found a lump on my lower leg back in 2016 got it checked through gp surgery and the senior nurse wasn’t happy and passed over to my gp, got a call from the gp he was happy nothing to worry about. Over the years I have developed another 6 which have been flagged and have been reassured by gp I’m having an allergic reaction to a certain insect bite. I’ve learned to live with these lumps so all good.

2 weeks ago one of my lumps decided to turn black so back to the gp I went, I ended up seeing a nurse who had just been on training the day before for dermoscopy video 2ww nurse reassured me everything looked normal but wanted to send off for clarification and subscribed full blood work to see why I was developing these nodules

I then received a phone call to say the dermatologist had reviewed by photos and shows pink with  negative white  network with hairpin vessels and suspected melanoma and to refer on urgent biopsies as I have more than one.

I’m fine with this and the waiting times, but trying to work out timings as I travel a lot for my job and don’t want to be 500 miles away and miss an appointment Face palm tone1‍♀️

my gp has put me on a tww referral but can’t guarantee it will be adhere to, my question is did you get a phone call or a letter in the post? Thank you xx

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the group.

When I had a suspected melanoma removed I had a phone call to book me in for surgery. However, that might not be the same for all hospitals.

Given your situation of being away from home a lot, I'd give the dermatology department at the hospital a call to see how they inform their patients.

    Wishing you all the best
