Had a wide exision on my left forearm after having a melanoma diagnosed in April. Despite consultant concern there may have been an early recurrence no melanoma was subsequently discovered and today the nurse, after a thorough exam declared me cancer free. I still have to have checkups for five years but feel full of gratitude for the nurses and doctors of Chorley and Preston hospitals who treated me. The whole three months from seeing the GP until today seems so strange. I feel like I've dipped in and out of what could have been a different story and I need to sit back and process it. Nobody lives forever, but I feel like I've dodged a bullet this time. Good luck to you all. X
Great news Warmington!
Thanks GDM. No, I didn't have a SLNB as there was no melanoma found in the wide excision. My melanoma was described as thin, at .8mm in depth, stage 1b I think. I'd watched this mole turn pinker over a few months but it was when it bled I went to the GP. I feel like I've dodged a bullet to be honest, the whole couple of months has been a bit of a ride. Good luck with your wide excision, mine was abreeze and the theatre staff were lovely. Look a bit like the corpse bride now though! All the best. Xx
