SLNB side effects and flying

Hi I had WLE and SLNB On 15th February. The SLNB was in my groin and I had swelling afterward which I was assured was normal. I still have swelling although it is now more around the knee area. All I would like to know is whether it is safe to fly with the swelling still there. Cancer nurses are not returning my calls and I am getting more and more stressed the closer the holiday gets, I am due to fly I’m Monday. As you all know it’s a rough time and I really could do with the break but at the moment I am getting nowhere. Any advice please

  • Hi

Have you tried calling the Macmillan nurses on the Macmillan Support Line? Whilst they don't have access to your medical records, they will be able to give you general advice around flying and your swollen knee. They should also be able to suggest who you might need to see to get it checked if you can't get hold of your specialist nurse. The Support Line is free to call on 0808 808 0000 and is available every day of the week between 8am and 8pm.

I do hope you have a lovely holiday.

  • Hi Latchbrook, just to let you know that I contacted the support line. Spoke to a lovely lady who gave me some excellent advice. Thanks again, I really appreciate your feedback Blush

  • That's great to read that you're sorted.

  • Hello Potte!

    Hope you are doing well!

I was actually very interested to hear what was the advise you were given about the flying part?

    Could you share this here?

I just had my WLE and SLNB 2 weeks ago and I m suppose to fly at the end of June, and I would like to know kW if this is safe or not.

Still swallon on the SLNB side and with some manageable pain.

    Thanks

    A

  • Hi MiciG, I was advised to contact the nurse at my GP practise to see if I needed a support stocking for my leg, they apparently will measure and prescribe the appropriate size. I did manage to have a lovely holiday so definitely talk to your nurse x
