Hey,
I've just turned 25 last month, have no previous health concerns or issues and have just been diagnosed with malignant melonoma. I'm working in a bar at the minute and just about making ends meet, my GP has written me off work for at least 28 days. Everything is all happening very fast and I'm struggling to get my head around it. I need to apply for financial support so I can stay off work to pay my bills but no clue where to turn to. Any help would be so appreciated, thank you.
Hi , if you ring the Macmillan support line 0800 808 0000 (its a free call) they should be able to put you in touch with a Macmillan welfare adviser, they can go through what benefits you are entitled to and make the whole process a lot easier, Macmillan also have some grants for specific circumstances so may be able to advise depending on your need.
Did you have any luck with the financial help from them? I stumbled upon this group and loved all the informative info being spread around, and although it looks like most of the group are from the uk and I'm in las Vegas, us, i still appreciate all the info everyone is sharing
