Moisturiser with Spf vs Moisturiser the separate spf

Hi,

I'm new to this group. I've had 3 moles removed over last year, 1 came back melamoma in situ and the 3rd  mole stage 1a 0.42mm. Both of these I've had to have WLE.

I'm generally OK but every now and then I feel a bit overwhelmed and panicky about the future. My immediate concern is regarding my skin care. I have bounced between  wearing a Temple Spa moisturiser with a built in spf 15 or on a wamrer day a TS/nivea moisturiser with separate face spf50 (asda/malibu) but find this sticky, especially when putting make up on top.

Can anyone recommend an effective moisturiser/spf. Also would you recommend a separate spf to moisturiser? I've joined lots of skincare groups but there is just so much choice and the creams are gerally quite expensive. If separate would it be OK to continue with normal moisturiser or would I be better with something more specialist?

Many thanks for any advice in advance x

  • Hi Alwaysreading…I’m quite new to all of this too…perhaps reading my profile rather than a long explanation!….I have struggled quite a bit to get the right SPF particularly for my face as I wear makeup but I would definitely recommend La Roche Posay…not sticky, feels nice and more importantly is a F50….I use a light moisturiser  then the SPF over that then my foundation…you can also get a spray version for topping up if needed..as far as the rest I use Nivea and also a Sainsburys roll on which is really handy for when you are out and about….both meet the 5star criteria and are F50….I think others will offer helpful advice but I do know that La Roche is a favourite here…take care x

  • Hi Alwaysreading,

I am fairly new and finding my way too.

I can't recommend anything on make up department as I am more of a lipstick&mascara girl. I've been using La Roche Possay 50+ as Sunscreen throughout summer, they have fluid, spray and mist form. I assume you can spray the mist on top of your make up. They also have moisturising sun cream with 50spf which I haven't tried yet,but I'll get for winter.

Avene, Clarins, L'Oréal, Neil's yard, Simple, Olay all have high spf moisturisers if you'd like to try.

  • Hi,

Thanks for replying. Sorry to read about your situation, a T3 sounds serious but glad to hear your medical team have been supportive.

I had done lots of googling and la Roche came up a lot but when I looked into them there's so many different versions of moisturiser, which did you buy? It's a minefield of information.

I hope you continue to receive good news. X

  • Thanks also for taking the time to reply. I'm definitely going to look at getting some la Roche posay - it seems a fave.

Take care and best wishes for your future x

  • Hi ….I use Hydraphase riche as the moisturiser….I think they do this in a less rich formula for less mature skins…it’s lovley and light though….and the Anthelios Age correct for mature skins but again they do them for younger skins too….I know it’s not the key thing in all of this but for me having my make up on and lippy makes a lot of difference to the way I feel….hope this helps x….I have just received news this week that my WLE is clear and the only evidence in my lymph nodes was removed during the SLNB….I’m still quite shocked as I had kind of prepared myself for far more difficult news….so I know there are still scans and checks to be done and care on my part but yes a very different outcome!….

  • The Body Shop do a factor 50++++ face cream for £18 for 60ml and it's light and non greasy, apart from under my mask where I get hot (I work in Wales in a shop so we have to wear them still).
