My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma in April 2020.
The cancer had started in his neck, but had quickly spread to his bones and liver.
He was started on Keytruda but recent CT scans showed that this had had no effect and the cancer was still spreading, so it was agreed to stop treatment.
On Friday (4days ago) he was taken to hospital. CT scan showed that the cancer on his liver had burst and he was now bleeding internally.
This afternoon he was admitted to the local St John's Hospice, where he will be made comfortable for however long he has left, we have no idea how long that will be.
I am heart broken. We knew there was no cure for his cancer, but we never expected it to be this quick.
I've had to tell my 2 children, 8 and 4 that their grandad isn't coming home.
Life isn't fair. He's 66.
I agree, your situation does not seem fair. Your father is young yet the beast of melanoma is taking him far too quickly. My heart goes out to your family BabyRoo.
