Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community although I'm sorry you've had to find us.
How are you? Can I ask if this claim is for critical illness cover and do you have something in particular you need to know before claiming? Vitality Insurance isn't a company I've personally had any dealings with.

Hi Latchbrook, Im good, still a bit shock of my recent diagnosis of 3b melanoma, at 24, it isnt something I am expecting. How about you how are you? Yes, I am covered with vitality for critical life cover. And I wonder if anyone had a claim with this in the group
I'm not surprised that you're still in shock . It's not a diagnosis you expect at your age,
I don't recall anyone in the group mentioning Vitality Insurance before, but that's not to say no one on here has claimed just not mentioned it. If it's critical illness cover you have then it should say in your policy documents which cancers they cover and will pay out on. If you can't find the information just give them a call and they'll tell you. I would imagine you'd need to speak to them on the phone anyway to start the claim.
I'm well thank you. Went for another 3 monthly check-up last Wednesday and everything is still okay. Are you having further treatment for your melanoma?

I have currently put a claim in with vitality life. I am stage 1B. They told me that up to stage 1 you can get up to 25% of your critical illness money. So basically you get a percentage so that not all of the money is given in a lump sum. The remaining money will stay there incase it is needed in the future.
They have received my medical documents and are apparently reviewing my claim. Fingers crossed I will get something.
Thanks for the heads up.
I’m stage 2a. Great job catching so soon. I’m a bit confused, never been on a sunbed, must be the latent ginger gene...
I / We are a bit nervous about the impact on premiums, holiday insurance and not being able to move for the next 5-years.
I am a stage 2A and recently claimed my critical illness cover with Scottish widows.
They require confirmation from the hospital. I gave them a copy of my histology report and result confirmed by nurse specialist. After that it was processed quite quickly, within 2 weeks I had a payout. I received 25% of my total cover so it was a nice amount.
Had my WLE and SLNB a week ago and if there are positive lymph nodes I will be stage 3 and Scottish widows informed me I will be able to claim more possibly the total. Fingers crossed it’s not spread though!!!
Good luck
D :-)
Hi Everyone,
I was diagnosed with a Stage 1 melanoma in December and am currently awaiting a WLE. I also have comprehensive serious illness cover with Vitality an have submitted a claim. The forms were sent to my consultant last Friday, but I haven't heard anything back yet. I'l keep you posted as and when.
Hi
It can take a bit of time for the consultant to get round to sorting insurance claims. It maybe be worth chasing next week by contacting his/her secretary or ask nurse specialist to chase it up.
hope it all goes well for you.
D :-)
