Sentinel Node Biopsy

Hi Mel62.  I agree the waiting is the worst part.  My melanoma was on my upper arm.   I had a follow-up appointment with the Plastic Surgeon 51/2 weeks after my operation.  I was told by the Macmillan nurses that I would definitely receive my results in that appointment and if they weren’t ready, the appointment would be delayed.  Fortunately they were ready and there was no evidence of spread into the lymph nodes.

I had 2b desmoplastic melonoma to right side of chin non ulcerated  I had my wider excision in on 8 th June and got results 14th August had a flap brought up from neck and only needed one node removed from behind my ear

The waiting is horrendous but I had already waited 10 weeks  from initial removal to find it was melanoma that was never ending 

I am sure you will hear soon if you worried give plastics unit a ring to check things can get missed by accident

Hi Mel61. This journey that we are all on really does involve waiting at every stage.

I had WLE and SLNB on 14 July and received my results just over 8 weeks later. I wasn’t given a follow up appointment date until the results were available and had been discussed at a multi disciplinary team meeting. It wasn’t good news for me unfortunately but having just had a CT scan and with an oncologist appointment next week to make a treatment plan I am staying positive and optimistic. 
I do hope that you are not waiting much longer for results. If you have been given a CNS it wouldn’t do any harm to give her a ring and have a chat.

I had my wle and slnb on 12 August. I got my results over the phone (I had to chase) 3 weeks later. And then a face to face 23 September.
