Stressed with waiting and no answers

I know how hard waiting for results is and I found the best way to distract myself was spending as much time as possible doing things that I enjoyed. With 3 young children I'm guessing they're a big distraction anyway.

You are right that there are national targets for hospitals to meet. The old 2 week urgent referral target has been replaced with the Faster Diagnosis Standard. This aims for a maximum of 28 days from urgent referral for suspected cancer by your GP for you to be told if you have cancer or not. You can read more about it here.

I think you'll find, if you look at people's profiles in the group, that most people have a 4-6 week wait for the results of the biopsy to come back. You might find this article on how to ease worry when waiting for medical test results helpful.

As it's nearly 9 weeks since you had your biopsies, I'd be inclined to speak to your consultant's secretary to see if you can find out what the delay is. If you don't get anywhere that way you could speak to PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) at the hospital where you're being treated. Part of their role is to help resolve problems when using the NHS.

i agree the waiting is the worst part you just want to know what you are dealing with I had to wait 11 weeks from initial removal then was called into see plastic surgeon still not knowing that was another 2 weeks dermatology had failed to tell me it was melanoma and it was only on speaking to the amazing plastic surgeon that I found out he thought I had already been told 

The appointment with him was to organise wider excision and lymph node removal and had to wait another 4 weeks for that op and then another 5 weeks for results on that procedure it is agonising this whole process began in December 25 and finally found out last procedures where negative and at moment cancer free this was in August long time I was frazzled The waiting is tough but if the results are good like for me it was worth all the procedures I would ring and see if they have further info maybe if I had done just that it would all have been dealt with a little bit quicker having said that the treatments procedure and staff have been incredible and plastic surgeon did an amazing job pleased to say as  my mole was on the left side of my chin so rather a large scar with flap pulled from neck and scar from chin to ear for the lymph node removal 

Give them a call they can only say no news but could be a good call to make
