The waiting

So I was shocked to find a mole I’d had for years had suddenly got bigger on back of thigh, this was beginning of June. Being where it is I couldn’t obviously see it, only became apparent to me when trying on new shorts and saw it in mirror. Rang for GP appointment and so the waiting begins… Non urgent appointment made for 2 weeks time.
Attended GP obviously suspicious over 6mm non symmetrical, changed in time. Referred to urgent skin cancer clinic under 2 week rule. Waited another 4 weeks for appointment and so the anxiety amplifies. Seen in clinic 1st doctor unsure so gets a second opinion.  2nd doctor confirms possible early stage melanoma needs to be excised. I was expecting a come back in a week, but consent forms came out photographs taken and whisked off to another room gowned up and procedure done there n then. All abit of a whirlwind really.
Told sample sent off for fast tracked histology, results probably back in a few weeks and so here I am in the waiting game again. It’s been 3 weeks now and the anxiety and anticipation is really starting to get to me. I’m a lady in early 50s divorced no children I haven’t told elderly parents. Dad has dementia, Mum is his carer and I don’t want to burden her. I’ve told a few friends and my manager at work but feeling really alone and the waiting is endless
