Ive just recived the all clear after last extra excision of skin showed no scarr tissue.

What are the next stages?

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to our corner of the online community.

That's great news that after your most recent excision you've been given the all clear. However, it's very disappointing that whoever your appointment was with, either over the phone or face-to-face didn't tell you what to expect next.

What your follow-ups will be, depends on what Stage melanoma you are. I've had a peek at your profile to see but you haven't completed it yet. For example, I was Stage 2a which meant 3 monthly check-ups for 3 years followed by 6 monthly check-ups for 2 years. What Stage has was your melanoma and I can give you more specific information.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Your SCNS will be able to tell you what Stage your melanoma was and what to expect next in the form of follow-ups.

When you know your Stage, you can always come back here to find out about other people's experiences.

You can also have a look through this information from NICE which tells you what follow-up protocols are followed for each Stage of melanoma.
