In a couple of weeks I am having a WLE with skin graft and SLNB. Am just wondering what recovery looked like for people? Skin graft will be on my ankle so am worried about getting about afterwards.
Hello, I had similar two years ago except the melanoma was on the sole of my foot which made recovery protracted. The skin graft and SLNB wounds (had groin and knee done) healed within a few weeks and with minimal pain. Took 3 months for the foot to heal completely. As yours is on the ankle it should be quicker than mine but you will probably be advised to keep your foot elevated as much as possible, above the level of your heart, to aid healing. I bought a leg support on amazon to help with this, particularly in bed, but pillows would do the job too. Best of luck.
Hi I had melanoma on the inside right bottom ankle I had a skin graft and slnb on right groin in 2023 I had 7 weeks of work as I have physical job. I'm now on surveillance with scans and skin checks as mine ended up as stage 3a. I was advised not to do much first couple of weeks as skin graft needs to settle you will have lots of check ups with dressing changing. You will be sore at the skin graft doner sight mine was my thigh. Also I had infection on my groin and that will feel tight for a while. Don't worry too much as your be in good hands.
That’s exactly where mine is. I am in for an excision next week on another potential melanoma then the following week for WLE and SLNB. Starting to see a bit more that it will be the full two weeks of not really doing too much. Thank you for your message
My foot still gets sore now everynow and then can stil see it now. How big is yours. Mine was 1.5cm and I had extra 2cm cut out. The problem is the bottom of it hits the ground. If you have any questions I'm happy to answer.
