Hi I would like to chat to anybody on here who has had this procedure. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago and after a 3 day hospital stay came home with 2 drains still in which have now been removed and the staples also removed from surgery site. I didn’t know what to expect post operatively and am very slow and not able to move around very much. Just wanted to hear of other people’s experiences in this situation. Love to everyone on this journey xx

  • Hi

I haven't had this procedure but have searched the group and found that  and  are the most recent group members to have posted about having it done. I've 'tagged' them in the hope that they'll pop on and share their experiences with you.

    Wishing you all the best

  • Hi Doulou

Yes I had this procedure on 20th Aug. Was in hospital for 2 days and discharged home with 2 drains also. One was removed after 2 weeks, 2nd removed after 3.

I was also slow moving around for a good couple of months, the incision was tight so I walked with a limp. I got tired very easily too. Your body just needs time to recover.

Everything is fine incision wise now. Leg swells a bit and I get pain above my knee (which i assume is from the fluid build up when swollen).

Unfortunately I have had a recurrence in my groin, started about a month after surgery this lump started to grow and it is now the size of a golf ball - confirmed Melanoma. I have also found a new lump in my thigh this week, just down from this monstrosity. Booked in for surgery on 26th Nov - can't come soon enough.

Don't worry about taking things slow. I was told it was a good 4 to 6 weeks rest, so just give yourself time.

    You've got this.

  • Hi Sara so sorry to hear you are going through this again so soon after your last surgery. I can’t understand how you have another melanoma lump when you've had lymph nodes and tissue removed only months ago. Have they said how this could have happened?

Im improving slowly and its strange but the pain is in my lower back and outer thigh rather than surgery site. My knee and just above are permanently cold and i sit with hw bottle on it.

Take care and good luck with next surgery please let me know how you are xx
